Applies toSafeView Inlet
Before you start
Unplug the RV from all power and turn the RV’s main breaker off. If you’re unsure, have an electrician do it.
Tools: Phillips screwdriver, tape measure, utility knife, wire cutters.
- Remove the four screws and pull the old inlet out. Disconnect its wires.
- Hold the SafeView in the hole to check the fit. Mark and drill new screw holes if needed.
- On the SafeView, loosen the screw on the rear housing and remove the housing. On the 30A, turn it counterclockwise to take it off.
- Remove the cable bushing. Keep it, you may need it later.
- Strip 1 5/8 in of the cable’s outer jacket and 5/8 in from each wire. The copper should be shiny with all strands intact.
- Feed the cable through the rear housing.
- Connect each wire to the terminal of the matching color, then tighten. Don’t overtighten.
- 30A: white = neutral, green = ground, red = line. Tighten to 35–40 in-lb.
- 50A: white = neutral, green = ground, red = line 1, black = line 2. Tighten to 45–50 in-lb.
- Reattach the rear housing and tighten its screw (5.5–6.5 in-lb).
- Tighten the strain relief clamp around the cable (5.5–6.5 in-lb). Use the bushing if the fit is loose.
- Set the inlet in the hole and secure it with the four screws.
- Check that everything is tight, then press the cover down.
- Turn power back on and check the lights.
