Using it with a generator
Most portable generators need a ground bonded neutral plug.
Yes, Power Watchdog works with generators. Most portable generators don’t connect neutral to ground. Without that connection, the Watchdog reports E7 or E8 and cuts power. The plug fixes both.
- Plug a ground bonded neutral plug into any of the generator’s regular 120V outlets. They’re all linked, so one plug covers them all.
- Plug your Watchdog into the generator’s RV outlet as usual.
Why this matters
The bond gives fault current a path back to the generator’s breaker, so the breaker can trip during a short circuit instead of leaving the RV’s frame live.
