Error codes & lights
Error codes on the displayWhat each code means, what to do, and whether power comes back on its own.→The Watchdog doesn't light up at allUsually no power at the pedestal, or no neutral from the park.→The display looks dark or shows “8.8”Usually bright sunlight. Shade the display to check.→E8: Missing neutral inside the RVThe problem is between the Watchdog and your RV's panel, almost always a loose or burned connection. Here's how to find it.→App & connection
Which app do I need? There are three Power Watchdog apps. The wrong one gives a “BLE wrong format” error.→The app won't connect over BluetoothCheck that the unit has power, then check the app's permissions.→Connect your Gen II to WiFiPair over Bluetooth first, then use a 2.4 GHz network. Four steps.→Create your Gen II app accountWarranty registration on the website doesn't create an app account.→The security code email didn't arriveCheck spam. The 60-second timer doesn't cancel your code.→“Unit is already bound” when pairingSomeone has already registered this unit to an account.→Pair a hardwired unit you can't reachUse auto-search instead of scanning the QR code.→Is there an app subscription? No. The app is free.→Power keeps cutting out
My Watchdog keeps shutting off powerIt's doing its job. Find the code to see why.→Using it with a generatorMost portable generators need a ground bonded neutral plug.→My GFCI trips when the surge protector is plugged inAll surge protectors leak a small current to ground. Use a non-GFCI outlet.→There's a “thunk” a few seconds after I plug inNormal. Power passed the safety check and is now going to the RV.→Installation
Installing a hardwired WatchdogBefore the transfer switch. Strip no more than 3/8 inch. Torque to 35–40 in-lb.→Mine didn't come with a remote displayCorrect. The app is the display.→Can I convert a portable unit to hardwired? Not by modifying it. That voids the warranty.→Where you can use it
50A RV on a 30A pedestalUse a dog-bone adapter, and watch your amps in the app.→I heard a “pop” on my new 30A outlet at homeThe outlet is probably wired for 240V. Test it before plugging in again.→Can I use it on a docked boat?Surge protectors and voltage boosters: no. The SafeView inlet: yes.→Will it work with solar or a battery generator? No. Surge protectors aren't for DC sources.→Specifications
